About Michael Bogdanow

Michael Bogdanow was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he began exhibiting his art in 1971 in an exhibit at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. He was a studio art major at Brandeis University, where he received his Bachelor's degree magna cum laude with honors in fine arts in 1976. He went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and sculpture at Columbia University in 1979, and a law degree from Harvard Law School magna cum laude.

Michael has been active in Jewish studies his entire life. He studied for one year in Jerusalem at the Institute for Leaders from Abroad. He has taught and led workshops on the use of biblical texts as inspiration for making art in courses for high school programs, synagogues, the UAHC and other organizations.

Michael's works are owned by numerous synagogues, other institutions and private collectors. He also licenses the use of his art, which has been used on the covers of and within numerous books worldwide, the Peri Smilow recording The Freedom Music Project, Jewish calendars, and announcements and other uses by synagogues and organizations such as The State of Israel Bonds and the UJC Federation Campaign. He exhibits and sells his original paintings and reproductions, and also greatly enjoys the commission process of collaborating with the purchaser to create an individualized work of art.
